Mid-MEAC's Land Use Lunch
Changing the Framework for Development
with Terry Link
(former head of MSU Office of Campus Sustainability & Greater Lansing Food Bank)
Friday, December 2, 2011
12pm - 1pm
Are you a regular at Mid-MEAC's Land Use Lunch? Have you always wanted to go but haven't had the chance? We want to see all of our friends, old and new at this week's Land Use Lunch. Our good friend Terry Link will be with us to talk about Sustainability, something that's near and dear to our hearts here at Mid-MEAC.
This week's Land Use Lunch will be held at the Christman Building in the Training Room (208 N. Capitol Avenue, Lansing, MI 48933) so there's plenty of room for you to bring a friend to learn about Terry's topic "Changing the Framework for Development".
Terry Link is the founder of Michigan State University's Office of Campus Sustainability and recently retired as the head of the Greater Lansing Food Bank. Now that he's retired TWICE, he's got a new job with Starting Now, LLC, where he's advising businesses, educational institutions, communities and more on integrating sustainable practices into planning and development. We'll hear more about this new project and how a project like the Earth Charter can be used as a model for development projects locally, regionally and beyond.
The Mid-MEAC team will also provide a brief update on the recent announcement that our region was awarded a $3 Million HUD Sustainable Communities grant which includes significant funding for a variety of sustainable projects throughout the region. Mid-MEAC was part of the core group of applicants for the grant which was awarded to Tri-County Regional Planning Commission. We are thrilled at this opportunity for partnership and sustainable development in our region.
Mid-MEAC Land Use Lunches are held from 12pm - 1pm and feature a light buffet lunch ($5 suggested donation). The general public is welcome to attend. The facility is handicap accessible via elevator. Please follow the signs on the exterior of the building.
